How do I integrate Product Review Widgets on my website?

The Integration of a Product Review Widget works like any other Widget. There is just one big difference: You need to provide product identifiers.

If you are not familiar with how to add widgets to your website, please read the following article: How to add widgets to my website?

Also, if you would like to know how the widgets appear on your website, please have a look at this article: How do widgets look on my website?

What are product identifiers?

Product identifiers are a series of numerical or alphanumerical digits that identify a specific product

eTrusted Product Review Widgets support the most commonly used ones:

  • SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): SKUs are unique IDs assigned by the merchant.
  • GTIN (Global Trading Item Number): GTINs uniquely and globally identify your products based on international standards. Examples include ISBN or EAN.
  • MPN (Manufacturer Part Number): MPNs uniquely and globally identify products. The product’s manufacturer assigns them.

Can I use more than one product identifier?

Yes, you can. And for products with different variants, you even have to.

For example: Let’s say you sell T-Shirts in different sizes. Provide for each size (e.g. S, M, L)  a product identifier. You can do this by adding one product identifiers after the other and dividing them by comma.

Please make sure to provide at least one product identifier. If you don’t choose one, your widget will not be displayed.

How do I add a Product Review Widget to my website?

You can add your Product Review Widget like any other widget to your website. First, you will need to go to our "Widget Library".

Start the setup by selecting a Product Review widget from the widget library and clicking the "Configure" button in the lower right corner:

The configuration mode for the widget opens. It splits into two parts. On the left, you find all available options. On the right, you see a preview of the widget

Click Create widget code. The next step is to add product identifiers.

How do I add product identifiers?

After you have created the widget code, a new window will open. In this window, you will have to choose the product identifier.

Below, you can see an example of how the Full Review List widget’s code could look like.

The example shows a product with three different product variants. You can simply add them (0055573.001, 0055573.002, 0055573.005) dividing them by a comma. SKUs are the product identifiers:

<!-- Begin eTrusted widget tag -->

<etrusted-widget data-etrusted-widget-id="wdg-f6e1e50c-b07c-4a92-85fb-14b6feab9ea6" data-sku="0055573.001,0055573.002,0055573.005"></etrusted-widget>

<!-- End eTrusted widget tag -->

Is someone else inserting the code snippets for you?

01_32x32.png Copy the code snippets via the button "Copy all instructions". Paste the instructions into a text document, e-mail or other media of your choice and forward it to the person that is completing the integration for you.

02_32x32.png Finally, click "Complete widget creation".

Do you insert the code snippets yourself?

Then you can also copy the three code snippets separately by clicking on the symbol in the upper right corner of the black code field. The JavaScripit code Initialisation from the upper field must be inserted into the head of the web page. The second code snippet Embed Widget is inserted into the body, where the widget is to be displayed. The code snippet Widget extensions is also inserted in the body. When you have completed the process, don't forget to click "Complete widget creation".

The JavaScript code for the head is only needed once, even if you implement more than one widget on your website. Your widget should be visible after a few minutes.

Don’t forget: For every product variant, you have to provide a product identifier. Only by doing so, the widget will combine all variants and use all your collected experience feedback.
