AI systems use publicly available information to assess businesses and provide recommendations. This FAQ explains which Trusted Shops data AI systems can use, how reviews are verified and what data protection limits apply.
Trusted Shops reviews are publicly accessible web content. How external AI providers use public web data – including any potential use for training purposes – depends on the respective provider’s policies.
In addition, Trusted Shops does not provide private or restricted review data to external AI providers for training purposes.
AI providers can only access publicly available information that is visible on Trusted Shops company profiles.
This may include:
- Company name and the categories selected by the company
- Overall rating and number of collected reviews
- Public review comments and company responses
- Certification status
- Publicly shared address details and website links
Private account data or addresses, internal analyses and non-public information are not accessible.
Before publication, reviews go through automated and organisational verification processes. These checks help identify suspicious, harmful or non-authentic content.
This helps ensure that publicly visible reviews remain as reliable and trustworthy as possible – both for people and for AI systems.
Structured data makes it easier for machines to classify information correctly and process it reliably.
For this reason, Trusted Shops uses structured data (Schema.org, JSON-LD) so that AI systems can correctly interpret reviews, overall ratings and certifications.
To make trust information more accessible to AI systems, Trusted Shops has been providing the Trustbadge AI+ since May 2026. Through structured data, it brings machine-readable trust signals directly to your website. This enables AI systems to verify trust signals in real time.
Whether a specific AI system can read the Trustbadge depends on how it processes web content. Some systems can interpret JavaScript-based content, while others primarily rely on static HTML or structured data.
Yes. External AI systems can only access publicly available information. Private business and customer data, as well as other non-public information, are not made available and therefore cannot be accessed by external AI systems.
No. Reviews collected with Trusted Shops are part of the public web and may be indexed or referenced by third parties, including AI providers.
Trusted Shops ensures the quality of reviews on its own platforms.
However, Trusted Shops cannot control how external AI systems summarise, interpret or display this content.
