What is the Trustbadge®?

The Trustbadge® is the central element for the optimal use of all Trusted Shops products. At the same time, it serves as a showcase in which all your trust elements – the Trustmark, Buyer Protection, your collected reviews and the #trstd login – are bundled together.

What are the advantages of the Trustbadge?

The Trustbadge has a whole range of advantages for you and your customers:

  • It creates trust in your shop. Once installed, the Trustbadge keeps the security you offer by using Trusted Shops products always in the field of vision of your customers.
  • It enables the activation of the Buyer Protection. If Trusted Shops has certified your shop, your customers can secure their shopping after checkout. The Trustbadge recognises already registered consumers and automatically secures their purchase. Take advantage of our community of over 45 million registered consumers and create additional trust in your offer.
  • It supports you in collecting reviews. Customers who have taken out Buyer Protection or consented to receiving a review invite automatically receive an invite once the invite delay defined by you in the eTrusted Control Centre has expired.
  • It can be verified by AI. Thanks to the #trstd login, not only your customers but also AI agents can verify the authenticity of your website. Trust is therefore no longer based solely on visual representation, but on verifiable data and signals.
The Trustbadge provides verification information in a machine-readable format. This enables search engines and AI agents to automatically recognise and verify the authenticity of your website.
Some systems, such as the Google bot, can already process this information directly. Support for additional AI systems is currently being expanded.

What are the components of the Trustbadge?

The Trustbadge consists of three components:

Below, we introduce these components using the standard desktop version.

The minimised version of the Trustbadge

Minimised-TB_EN.png

The minimised Trustbadge is divided into three sections:

  • In the upper section, you will find the Trusted Shops Trustmark.
  • The middle section is dedicated to your collected reviews. It displays the overall rating, the review stars and the number of collected reviews.
  • The lower section contains the #trstd login.

This combination allows visitors to immediately assess the trustworthiness of your website and verify it directly if required.

The minimised Trustbadge accompanies your customers throughout their shopping experience and is displayed on all pages. By default, it is shown in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen and remains in position even when the customer scrolls down the page. Of course, you can adapt the position and size of the minimised Trustbadge to suit your individual requirements.

This guide explains what you need to do: How do I adapt the Trustbadge® to my requirements?

The maximised version of the Trustbadge

Clicking on the Trustbadge opens the maximised view. This distinguishes between two states: the logged-out state and the logged-in state.

Logged-out state

If your customer has never used the #trstd login before or is not currently logged in, the maximised Trustbadge appears in the logged-out state.

Here, your customers can:

  • use the "Verify authenticity" button to create a personal #trstd secret and save it as an individual identifier (01_16x16.png). The #trstd secret is used to clearly verify the authenticity of your website in the #trstd login.
  • view your company address (02_16x16.png).
  • view information about the Trustmark and details of your Trusted Shops membership (e.g. since when) (03_16x16.png).
  • view information about your reviews (overall rating, review stars and the number of collected reviews) (04_16x16.png).

Logged-in state

If your customer has already created a #trstd secret and is logged in, the maximised Trustbadge appears in the logged-in state.

Here, users can see:

  • their personal #trstd secret (01_16x16.png)
  • your company address (02_16x16.png)
  • information about the Trustmark and details of your Trusted Shops membership (e.g. since when) (03_16x16.png)
  • review information (04_16x16.png)

This provides users with both a visual and a verifiable confirmation of trustworthiness.

The Trustcard

The Trustcard appears after an order has been completed. It gives your customers the opportunity to consent to receiving a review invite or – provided your website has received the Trustmark – to take out Buyer Protection.

If your customers belong to the more than 45 million users who have already used the Buyer Protection for a previous purchase or who have a paid Trusted Shops PLUS membership, orders up to 100 Euros, or up to 20,000 Euros (for PLUS members), are automatically protected without the customer having to confirm this. In this case your customers will also be asked for a review later on.

What can my Trustbadge look like?

The Trustbadge does not have a uniform appearance. Its display automatically adapts to various factors:

  • status of your certification
  • existing reviews
  • your configuration
  • device used (desktop or mobile)

The Trustbadge for new members

You can integrate the Trustbadge into your website immediately after the start of your membership.

You can find information about the integration here: Integrate Trusted Shops into your shop

During this phase:

  • no Trustmark is displayed yet
  • you can already collect reviews (if booked)
  • verification via the #trstd login is already available

As soon as you collect your first review, the Trustbadge displays your star rating, your overall rating and the number of collected reviews. After successful certification, the Trustmark is additionally displayed and Buyer Protection is activated. The Trustbadge updates automatically.
